Singer, songwriter and music producer Darcy Callus is originally from Adelaide, Australia, and is now living and working in the spiritual center of the Southern California music community — the famed Laurel Canyon. Darcy graduated from Adelaide University with a Bachelor of Jazz Performance in piano with first class Honours. In 2013, he won the Helpmann Academy Jazz Award for “Top Undergraduate Pianist” and the following year, the Elder Conservatorium Directors Awards for “Outstanding Recital Performance”. Darcy went on to study in the classical repertoire with musicologist and concert pianist Dr. Graham Williams, pupil of the French 20th century composer Olivier Messiaen and famed pianist Yvonne-LoriodMessiaen.
In 2017, he followed his instinct to Los Angeles where he was discovered by celebrity vocal coach, Dave Stroud (Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, Prince) and started voice training. Darcy worked on the gigging scene, playing shows at local venues such as Hotel Café, Viper Room and The Mint. It was soon after that he was scouted to audition for America’s Got Talent Season 12 in 2017, performing The Beach Boys song, “God Only Knows” to standing ovation from judges and audience.
Darcy is currently writing and producing for his solo project and has been working with multi-platinum songwriter and mentor Pam Sheyne, (Christina Aguilera, Camila Cabello, Jason Derulo, Demi Lovato and Seal). He is also working with Grammy Award-winning, recording artist, producer, and songwriter, Printz Board (The Black Eyed Peas, DJ Mustard, CeeLo Green, Mark Ronson and John Legend). Darcy’s musical tastes are varied, and the central themes for everything that he does are musicality and professionalism.
